Betty Joan Engellant, 80, of Great Falls, a retired teacher, died of natural causes Tuesday at Peace Hospice. Her funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday at Geraldine Community Methodist Church, with burial in Geraldine Cemetery.
Survivors include daughters Marlys Nichols of Great Falls and Brenda Weist of Maple Grove, Minn.; her mother, Edwina Engellant of Great Falls; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Betty was born Oct. 2, 1928, in Fort Benton, to Winnie and John Engellant, and was raised and educated in Geraldine. She graduated in 1946 from Geraldine High School, received her bachelor's degree from Bozeman and her master's from Eastern Montana College in Billings. She taught at many schools during her career, including in Great Falls.
She was preceded in death by former spouses Harry Nichols, Herb Bailey and Kenneth Boggs.
