Vernon Jones, 75, Dies: Rites Held Monday For Wife

Vernon C. Jones, 75, Centertown merchant, died at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, at the Ohio County Hospital, only four days after his wife's death, which occurred at 5 a.m., Sunday. (Her obituary was written and printed before his death and appears on page three).

Mr. Jones had been a patient at the local hospital for several days after being hospitalized at Owensboro where he underwent amputation of his left leg.

He was a member of the Green River Baptist church.

He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Noel Brown, Route 1, Centertown, Mrs. Grace Ashby, Centertown, and Mrs. Claudis James, Equality; one brother, E. C. Jones, of Centertown; seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon at Walton's Creek church, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. E.E. Spickard will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Don Brown, Lane Brown, Jerry Ashby, Rayburn Addington, James Hamilton and Foster House.

Birkhead Funeral Home, Hartford will direct.
