Mrs. Elvira Tichenor Dies Near Centertown

Mrs. Elvira Genettie Hocker Tichenor, widow of the late J.P. Tichenor, died at her home near Centertown on Saturday, the 29th, July at the ripe old age of seventy-seven years. She and Mr. Tichenor were married on March 9, 1865, to their union, nine children being born, eight of which survive. Mrs. Tichenor, professed religion when quite young and united with the Baptist church at West Point where she continued a faithful member until death. She was a self-sacrificing consistent Christian wife and mother, a faithful friend and neighbor, Her going leaves scores of hearts immeasurably saddened.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Russell Walker of Hartford, at the Walton's Creek Baptist, at 11 a.m., Saturday, in the presence of a large gathering. Interment was in the nearby cemetery.
