Montgomery - Carlos George Ceawford, 61, died of a heart attack last night shortly after being admitted to Laird Memorial hospital here, he resided at Morris Creek in the West End of Montgomery.
Born Aug. 28, 1891 at Dry Branch on Cabin Creek, he was a son of the late Augusta and Mary (Murray) Crawford.
A former coal miner he worked for the Cannelton Coal and Coke Co. at nearby Cannelton until 1930 when he was forced to retire because of an injury.
He was later employed by Confidential Reports, Inc., of Cincinnati.
Mr. Crawford was married in 1925 to Mamie Ethel Morris.
Surviving besides his widow are four daughters, June, Loraine and Judy Crawford, all at home, and Mrs. Doris Scarbrough of Newport, Ky., two sons, Harry and Carlos L. Crawford, both at home, three sisters, Mrs. Ora Whittington, and Mrs. Maude Ball, both of Charleston, and Mrs. Betty Armstrong of Dry Branch, four brothers, Claude, Earl and Lester Crawford all of Dry Branch, and William Crawford of Eskdale, and one grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Sunday 4 p.m. in the Church of God on Riggs Street here with the Revs. Alfred Lacy and Mont Carr officiating. Burial will be in Montgomery Memorial Park at London, under the direction of B. C. Hooper mortuary of Montgomery. The body is at the mortuary and will be taken to residence Saturday at 11 a.m.
Members of Kanawha Valley Post NO. 58 of the American Legion will conduct graveside rites.
