Betty Jean (Ayers) Sheeler, 69, of Hagerstown, MD, died Friday, September 5, 1997, at her home.

Born September 24, 1927, in Milwaukee, WI, she was the daughter of the late John B. Ayers and Velma Louise Johnson Ayers.

She was a graduate of Berkeley Springs High School. She later graduated from Hagerstown Business College.

She was employed by Wright Gardner Insurance Co., retiring in 1992.

She was a member of Haven Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her husband, Calvin Wallace Sheeler Jr., Hagerstown; one daughter Diane Louise McCleaf, Hagerstown; one brother, J. Robert Ayers, Berkeley Springs; and one granddaughter.

A memorial service was held Tuesday, September 9, at 11 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Boulevard North, Hagerstown. The Rev. Torben Aarsand officiated. Burial was in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
