"Born Marshfield about 1730, met Capt. Nickels in Boston in 1750 and went with him to Wiscassett to load Spanish ships with lumber. In 1751 served in expeditions against the Indians on the Kennebec River, was present at Capture of Quebec and 2d capture of Louisburg, raised a company of men after the battle of Lexington which k=joined the army before Boston. Next year raised another company and joined army of Washington at N.Y. and in 1778 joined army under Sullivan in R.I.
