Frank was killed by the kick of a yearling horse foal. The kick shattered his skull so that part of his brain was exposed, and he died several days later of complications. For years, his mother kept the pillow on which his head was cradled when he died. The feathers had clumped together and formed a crown. There is an old country belief abut such a crown of feathers, but I cannot remember what Daddy and Grandma told me concerning it. Frank's quotation on his tombstone is "A little bud of love to bloom with God above."
