U.S. Congressman. Born in Rochester, New York, he graduated from Georgetown University, Washington, D.C., in 1901, from the law department of Harvard University in 1904, was admitted to the bar and commenced to practice law in Rochester, New York. He was a member of the Rochester School Board (1905-32) and member of the New York State and Alcoholic Beverage Control Board, (1933-34). In 1935, he was elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-fourth Congress, serving until 1937. An unsuccessful candidate for re-nomination, he was appointed by Governor Lehman justice of the Supreme Court of the State of New York, seventh judicial district and was a member of the New York State Probation Commission, (1938-44). He then resumed the practice of law, plus received numerous Catholic Church honors such as Knight of St. Gregory and Knight of Malta by Pope Pius XI. He died at age 90 in Rochester, New York.
