George Banks Galey, retired gas and oil producer and former partner in the firm of Mellon and Galey died early today in the Orange Memorial Hospital in Orlando, Florida.
Mr. Galey was born in Perryville, Clarion County, April 16, 1871. He was the son of Robert Galey, also an oil man and the grandson of the man who came from Norhern Ireland to America with the late Judge Thomas Mellon of Pittsburgh.
He discovered several oil and gas pools in Ohio and Pennsylvania, among which the largest was the Jackson's Ridge Pool in Monroe County, Ohio.
Mr. Galey, whose home was in Beaver, was a member of the First Presbyterian Church there. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Vera Taylor Galey of Beaver; a son, John T. Galey of Pittsburgh; and two grandchildren.
Services will be held in Orlando from the Fairchild Funeral Home.
Interment will be in Beaver Cemetery.
