U.S. Congressman. He graduated from St. John’s College, from St. John’s Law School, was admitted to the bar in 1944 and commenced the practice of law in New York City. He was an Assistant Corporation Counsel of New York City, (1949-50), served in the New York State Assembly, (1951-54) and a member of the New York State Senate, (1955-60). In 1960, he was elected as a Democrat to the Eighty-sixth Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Isidore Dollinger, reelected to the Eighty-seventh Congressman and to the next four succeeding Congresses, serving until 1971. He then resumed the practice of law until his death at age 60.
