Howard Gene "Butch" Walker, 63, of Dearing, passed away Monday, February 28, 2011 at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, OK.

He was born July 8, 1947, at Davenport, Iowa to Howard Eugene and Ruth (Brooks) Walker. Butch grew up and attended school in Coffeyville graduating from Field Kindley High School in 1965.

In 1967 he married Jennie Sparks, together they had two children. They were later divorced.

On August 7, 1973 he married Ruby Thompson at Miami, OK. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville, where Butch worked for the City of Coffeyville Parks Department.

He was a member of International Union of Operating Engineers Local #123.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby of the home; one son Howard "Butchie" Walker, Jr.of Parsons, KS; one daughter, Michelle Bussen and husband Chris of Dennis, KS; two step-daughters, Rhonda Hibbard and husband Mike of Baxter Springs, KS, and Deborah Brubaker and husband Randy of Topeka, KS; his mother, Ruth Walker of Coffeyville; two brothers, Ronnie Walker and wife Deloris of South Coffeyville, OK, and Roger Walker and wife Joyce of Coffeyville; three sisters, Juanita Herrington of Dayton, TX, Dianna Foster and husband John of Coffeyville, and Lona Barg and husband Randy of Coffeyville; nine grandchildren, Christopher Bussen, Shelby Bussen, Yaser Aghorlikhani and wife Hawar, Samiera Maftoun and husband Mohammad, Somayyeh Sabahi and husband Milad, Meysam Aghorlikhani, Shaun Henisey, Malachi Edwards, and Malcolm Edwards; one great-granddaughter, Alice Henisey. one sister-in-law, Mary Ann Guier of Marion, North Carolina

He was preceded in death by his father, and one step-daughter, Patricia Smith.

Friends may call on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Following visitation cremation will take place.

The family suggests memorials to the American Lung Association, or the Charity of the Donor's Choice; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337
