US Congressman. Born in Prince George’s County, Maryland, he moved to New York in 1815, was employed as a clerk at the Bank of Niagara and was clerk in the office of the Holland Land Company Batavia, New York, (1819-22). From 1822 to 1839, he was treasurer for the Cattaraugus County, New York. In 1841, he was elected as a Whig to the Twenty-seventh Congress, serving until 1843, when he declined to be a candidate for re-nomination.
