Arrived Philadelphia, PA in early Fall of 1717 aboard one of three ship of Palatines from Rotterdam. (PA State Archives) Came with his father Hans Heinrich Neff [A2], brother Jacob, sister Catherine, Henry Neff [B] and Jacob Neff [D], and the Martin Funk family. Family settled at the Conestoga, then Chester Co., PA. (1718-1726 Conestoga Tax Lists, Chester Co., PA Archives. See Hawbaker-Groff Indexes).

April 1, 1728 signed as a Mennonite the Martin Mylen petition to for naturalization. Feb. 14, 1729/0 citizenship was granted. "NEFF NEWS", Neff Family Historical Soc., Inc, ISSN 1072-4648, Vol. IV, No. 3, September 1994.

Abt 1734 married in Lancaster Co., PA to Anna...., family name unknown and marriage record not found.

1742-1747, Frederick Co., MD. Bought and sold property in "Tasker's Chance" north of the town of Frederick.

June 28, 1749, Augusta Co., VA, John Henry Neff was "chain carrier" on a survey of 100 Acres for Cornelias Ruddle.

March 5, 1749/50, Augusta Co., VA, surveyed for John Henry Neff 470 acres "on the No. rived of Shennandoa Where he now lives and Pruchased by him from Adam Shurel who Clames under Hites Grant" Mentions land surveyed for "Daniel Holeman, Lamuel Lusks Land, Line of John Ruddel Senr, Line of William James, William Carrol, William More. 1749 Augusta Co., VA (Shenandoah County)
First survey was for 470 acres on the South side of the North Fork of the Shenandoah River at a point beginning at Holdman's Creek. Warrant dated 8 Dec 1749.

March 5, 1749/50 for Daniel Holeman "which is Part of Hites grant to Charles Robinson on the No. River of Shannondoa oposite to where he now lives." 1750 Patent for the above issued by the Proprietor's (Lord Fairfax) office dated 2 Aug 1750 for 470 acres. re: Joyner, Land Grants, Vol I, page 28.

1756 Second survey for 404 acres on the north side of the river, opposite his earlier survey, re: Joiner Vol. II, page 111. A tract called "Bushy Bottom. Patent by Lord Fairfax issued 20 Oct 1756. Ref: Shenandoah Deed Bk-G-5. Chalky: Augusta Co., VA, Fairfax land grants.

1773 sold 2 acres to of land to the local Quakers. Shen. Co., Deed Bk-A-285, now known as the Neff Quaker Cemetery.

1774 Orkney Springs, now a historic resort, is located a few miles west of Mount Jackson, VA on Rt. 263. was noted for its "medical waters" in the 1800's. Some of Dr. John Henry Neff's treatments may have included use of these springs in the mid and late 1700's..

1778 Dunmore Co., VA was renamed Shenandoah Co.

1783 Shenandoah Co., VA Personal Property Tax List Page 24.

1784 Will dated 1 Jun 1784 and proven 29 Jul 1784. Shenandoah Co., VA. Will Bk-B-101. One of the witnesses to the will was Adam Neff of the [D] line, who went to VA to study medicine under Dr. John Henry Neff.
