Earl R. Bogen, age 97, of Glenwood, MN, died Sunday, November 24, 2013, at Lakeview Good Samaritan Center in Glenwood. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Chapel in Glenwood, with Rev. Ginger Beck officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, beginning at 1:00 P.M. and continuing until the time of service. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Glenwood.
Earl Raymond Bogen was born May 22, 1916 in Summit, South Dakota. He was the son of Erik and Ina (Roc) Bogen.
On June 16, 1935, Earl was united in marriage to Agnes Rosten in Swanville, Minnesota. The couple made their home in Todd County for six years before moving to Glenwood. This marriage was blessed with four children. Earl and Agnes loved to go dancing. They shared 60 years of marriage before Agnes passed away on November 26, 1995.
In June of 1997, Earl was united in marriage to Joyce Hansen. They enjoyed many hours dancing and playing cards. Joyce passed away on June 12, 2006.
Earl was employed at Brownies Tire Service in Glenwood for over 50 years. He will be remembered as being an old fashioned gentleman, for his sense of humor and playing the keyboard for the residents at Lakeview Good Samaritan Center. In 2006, when Earl needed help with his daily care he moved into the Lakeview Good Samaritan Center in Glenwood. He passed away there on November 24, 2013.
Earl is survived by his sons: Allen (Gundi) Bogen of Linz, Austria and Loren (Barb) Bogen of Maple Grove, MN; his daughter, Lana Blom of Glenwood, MN; his son-in-law, Walter Hire of Shoreview, MN; 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his 1st wife, Agnes, 2nd wife, Joyce; daughter, Eleanor Hire and his siblings.
