U.S. Congressman. With the outbreak of the War of 1812, he organized a company of men and served as their Captain in the 29th Infantry, U.S. Army. After the war he entered politics and was appointed the local magistrate of Fort Covington, New York, in 1814. He also was loan commissioner and surrogate of Franklin County (1828-37), plus a member of the New York State Assembly (1831-32). In 1837, he was elected as a Democrat to the Twenty-fifth Congress, serving until 1839. After leaving Congress, he live in retirements until his death.
