Armaine C. Kushava, 89, Green Bay resident, passed on to her eternal reward and was greeted by Christ and the Saints on Saturday, July 2, 2011, after a short battle with cancer. She was born Nov. 29, 1921, in New Franken, to the late Jule and Anne (Dantinne) VanDenack. She was a Holy Family graduate and earned a degree in Arts and Education from Silver Lake College. Armaine obtained a Master's Degree in Arts from the University of Notre Dame. In 1974, she married Antone Kushava at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Green Bay. Armaine was a member of St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church. She was a teacher throughout Northeast Wisconsin for 58 years. Armaine loved her dogs and also spending time at the cottage in Crivitz. She was an avid Packers fan and loved to play bridge. Armaine volunteered her time with many different organizations. Above all though, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her husband. She was the greatest aunt, sister and wife and will be sadly missed by her nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her husband, Antone; sisters, Sr. Julia VanDenack and Rosemary Derenne; brother, Julius VanDenack; sisters-in-law, Leona Belongia and Nettie Tappa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers-in-law, Jerome (Loretta) Kushava, Paul (Esther) Kushava, Henry (Ethel) Kushava, Joe (Gladys) Kushava, Norman Belonga and Gilbert Tappa; sisters-in-law, Florence (Tony) Auslous, Helen (Darby) Bellow and Dolores VanDenack; stepfather, Alex Smeester.

Friends may call at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church, 645 S. Irwin Ave., on Wednesday after 9 a.m. until the time of service. Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church with the Rev. Tom Wojciechowski, OFM officiating. Entombment at Nicolet Memorial Gardens.
