U.S. Congressman. He engaged in the steamboat business on the North River, New York and served in the New York State Assembly, (1857-61). He established the First National Bank at Tarrytown, New York, in 1862 and served as the Westchester County Treasurer, (1866-75). In 1875, he was elected as a Democrat to the Forty-fourth Congress, serving until 1877. Not a candidate for re-nomination, he engaged in the real estate business and served as postmaster of Tarrytown, (1887-92, 94-98).
