Eleazer married Lucy Shurtleff in Bridgewater, Massachusetts on July 11 1769. They settled there where they raised 8 children: Calvin, Thomas, Silence, Phebe, Polly, Lucy, Cyprian and Jonathan. Later Eleazer and Lucy moved to Maine and settled in Woodstock in Oxford County.

Eleazer served in the American Revolution as a drummer in April of 1775 and as a Sergeant in August of 1775. Both times Eleazer served in Captain Josiah Hayden's Company. In his first duty on April 19, 1775 it is said that they marched to Lexington.

Eleazer's parents were Joseph Cole b1706 and Mary Stevens b1710. His grandparents were John Cole and Susanna Gray, Edward Stevens and Mary Churchill.
