Virginia Barnard Hatcher, 83 of Screven, Ga. and St. Simons Island, Ga. died Friday, July 1, 2011 in Jesup Healthcare after an extended illness. The Wayne County, Ga. native was a member of Flint Branch Baptist Church, a retired telephone operator with Southern Bell and Bell South, and an avid bingo player.
Survivors are her husband, C.F. Hatcher of Screven, Ga.; daughters: Lynette Partain of Screven, Ga., Patsy Patrick and fiancé, Brian Wilbur, both of Screven, Ga., Mary Ann (Gary) Flowers of Screven, Ga.; a special niece: Fran (Mike) Bessent of West Palm Beach, Fla. ; a sister: Christine Strickland of Brunswick, Ga.; a brother: Robert Barnard of Hartwell, Ga.; 4 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; several other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11 A.M. Monday, July 4, 2011 at Rinehart and Sons Chapel with Elder Tommy Kelly and Pastor Scott Hickox officiating. Interment will be in the Jesup City Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Michael Patrick, Jeremy Patrick, Garrett Flowers, Larry Wimpey, Dobie Strickland, and Mike Bessent. Honorary pallbearers will be the employees of Jesup Healthcare.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 P.M. Sunday, July 3, 2011 at the funeral hom
