Mrs. Jeanne Sills, 54, Dies at Home
Mrs. Jeanne Sills, 54, widow of Hugh Sills, was found dead in bed at her Mobile Manor residence, 834 Avondale Dr., Monday night, when her mother, Mrs. Stella Smoot of Bluffton, obtained help to enter the premises after failing in efforts to contact her daughter.

Coroner Robert Haggard estimated, on the basis of preliminary autopsy results, that the woman had been dead about 10 hours. He placed the approximate time of death at 9 a.m.

The coroner stated that the cause of death could not be determined pending the completion of further laboratory tests from which results were expected later today.

He said the initial investigation and reports failed to establish or verify natural causes or presence of natural illnesses, but these possibilities, as well as those of accidental death, could not be ruled out without more laboratory information.

There was no knowledge cited of recent major illnesses, and death was unexpected, the coroner indicated.

Mrs. Sills was a former employee at CTS in Berne.

A daughter of Mrs. Smoot of Bluffton and Walter Davenport of Florida, she was born June 13, 1918.

Mrs. Sills was a member of the Warren United Methodist Church.

Surviving, in addition to the parents, are two daughters, Mrs. David (Rebecca) Steele of Albuquerque, N. M., and Miss Virginia Ann Sills of Missoula, Mont.; one son, Jon W. Sills of Fort Wayne; one sister, Mrs. Ben (Helen) Panter of Dearborn, Mich., and one grandchild.

Friends may call after 1 p.m. Wednesday at Thoma Funeral Home, where services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday with Rev. Robert Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Dave's note: Lois Jeanne Davenport (1918-1972) is the d/o Walter and Stella Davenport. Stella's second marriage was to Mr. Smoot. Jeanne married Hugh Albert Sills (1917-1966) who is the s/o Albert Dillion "Bert" Sills (1878-1955) and Ethel Aldora King (1882-1952).
