Mrs. Harry Wilhelm Dies

Mirtie Levira Kinney, the younger daughter of the late Layafette Kinney and Mrs. Sara (Biles) Kinney, was born in the township of River Falls (Glass Valley) August 2, 1886, and passed away October 23, 1977, at the age of 91 years.

She attended the Glass Valley School and then the River Falls Normal. She taught in the Colby Schools for several years. Later she returned to the Normal to complete her training and received her diploma with the class of 1912.

After graduation she taught seventh and eighth grades at Elmwood, West Bend, Durand, and Prescott. She found her chief joy in the progress and success of her former pupils.

She resigned her position at Prescott at the close of her 16th year as a member of the faculty.

On July 2, 1938, she was united in marriage to Harry Wilhelm of this city, where she has since resided.

She was for many years a member of the United Methodist Church. She taught Sunday School for years.

She is survived by her three step-children--Mrs. Norma Kelly of River Falls, Mrs. Ruth Cunningham of Burbank, Calif., and Harry J. Wilhelm of Chippewa Falls; two brothers, Mark Kinney of River Falls and Leon Kinney of Amery. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a sister, a brother and many relatives.

Visitation was held at the Cashman Mortuary on Monday afternoon and evening with funeral services at the United Methodist Church on Tuesday, Oct. 25, at 1:30 p.m., Rev. Henry Dreistadt officiating. Interment was in Greenwood cemetery at River Falls.
