Colonel Thomas Burke, USMC (Ret), 84, of Rancho Bernardo died Friday after a long illness. He was born in Newark, NJ. Tom was a veteran of three wars and he received numerous military medals and commendations during his 30 years of Marine Corps service. He then taught ROTC at Ben Davis HS in Indianapolis for 10 years.
For the past 20 years, Tom has been a resident of Rancho Bernardo. His activities included volunteering at Sharp Rees-Stealy Clinic and ushering at San Rafael Catholic Church. He was also the alumni representative for Colby College.
Services 11am, Wed, Sep 28, San Rafael Catholic Church in Rancho Bernardo. Interment Private at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery at Point Loma, CA. Donations to Colby College, 4320 Mayflower Hill, Waterville, Maine, 04901 in memoriam of Thomas Burke. Published in U-T San Diego on Sept. 27, 2005
