Obituary. Valgene Crandall passed away June 30, 2011. He was born October 23, 1930 in Provo, Utah to Eugene and Afton Brimhall Crandall. He grew up in Provo, graduating from Provo High and attending BYU.
In 1956, Val married Karen Price in Provo. They just celebrated their 55th Anniversary. They had 5 children: Jeffrey Lee Crandall (deceased), Richard Scott Crandall of Orem, James Craig Crandall (deceased), Matthew Gene Crandall (deceased) and Jill Crandall of Aurora, CO. He is survived by his mother-in-law Kathryn Price of Orem; 2 sisters: Carol Spendlove Berrett of St. George and Betty Pounds of Sacramento, CA.
Val loved farming and did so until his late sixties. The Crandall farm was one of the original Orem fruit farms. He farmed cherries, peaches, apples and pears. People from all over the state came to Orem just for Val's pears. He was active in all related farming. He was President of Alta Ditch and Canal Co., President of Utah Valley Fruit Growers and a member of the Utah State Horticultural Society. When not farming, Val was at the golf course. They all knew him.
Val and Karen enjoyed traveling and were able to visit many countries. Val loved his animals and had many throughout his life. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. We love you.
