Son of Edward H. Beisheim & Clara M Jones Beisheim. Brother of Jean S Beisheim.

Robert served as a Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps, Marine Bombing Squadron Six-Eleven, during World War II.

He resided at 1164 Genesee Park Blvd., Rochester, Monroe County, New York prior to the war.

Robert died in the "Line Of Duty" as the result of an airplane training crash in the Ocean off Key West, Florida.

He was lost at sea.

This burial plot is a "Cenotaph" in his honor.

Summary: VMB 611 was commissioned on October 1, 1943 at Cherry Point, North Carolina. In late December 1943, the Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel George A. Sarles, moved the entire squadron from Cherry Point to Page Field, Parris Island, South Carolina, where they trained for seven months.

Other Casualties on this flight included: First Lieutenant William A. Grant, Second Lieutenant Howard B. Harten, Corporal Charles W. Aubert, and Private First Class Louis A. Weiskittel.
