Joseph L. & Mary (Nicosia) Zanghi. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II. Mr. Zanghi was a General Contractor for 35 years, working in the Building Trades Industry in Chicago, IL for 14 years, before returning to this area and settling in University Park, for the last 20 years. Mr. Zanghi was a Building Inspector & Zoning Officer for the Village of Fredonia in 1970 and served on the Planning
Board. He was a member of St. Anthony's RC Church, Fredonia, where he was an usher for many years and donated his time on many remodeling projects, both in the Church and the Rectory. Mr. Zanghi was a former member of the Knights of Columbus Council #7921,
Fredonia, the American Legion Post #59, Fredonia and AARP. He was an avid reader and a very devoted and loving family man. Mr.
Zanghi will be greatly missed by all who knew him, including his family and friends. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Mary L.
(Lombardo) Zanghi, whom he married on September 6, 1943, in Holy Trinity Church, Dunkirk, a daughter, Mrs. Edward (Melanie) Monacelli, of Hamburg, a son, Jay (Dawn Zimmerman) Zanghi, of Albany, four brothers, Angelo (Patricia) Zanghi, of Portland, NY, Samuel Zanghi and John (Arlene) Zanghi, both of Brocton, Russell Zanghi, of Seattle, WA and a sister, Lucy Didio, of Kenmore. Also surviving are 2 grandchildren Brian (Erin) Monacelli & Eric Monacelli, 1 great granddaughter Alexa Monacelli and several nieces &
nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a brother Anthony Zanghi, by a sister Frances Grabowski and by infant
twin siblings.
