Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy M. Holzer, 58, a resident of 905 9th Ave. for the past three years, will be held Friday, 10:30 a.m., at the Immaculate Conception Church. Rev. Ed Shields will celebrate the mass. Mrs. Holzer died Monday evening at University Hospitals, Iowa City. Death was attributed to heart failure. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery. The St. Joseph's Circle will recite the rosary at 3 p.m., Thursday, at the Hage Funeral Home. Scripture service will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Hage Funeral Home. Mrs. Holzer was born in Johnsburg MN, Feb. 25, 1926, the daughter of Frank and Theresa Thome Hemann. She received her education in the Stacyville Visitation School, Stacyville. On May 6, 1946, in Austin MN, she married Gilbert J. Holzer.
Survivors include her husband Gilbert, Charles City; four sons: Alvin, Lewisville TX; Kenneth, Rt. 4, Charles City; Raymond, Rt. 1, Charles City; and Ronald, Rt. 2, Ionia; three daughters: Mrs. Wendell (Sandra) Dohlman, Chester IA; Mrs. Richard (Jean) Bensend, Osage; and Mrs. Rodney (Judy) Barker, Lawler. There are 17 grandchildren, three sisters: Mrs. Carl (Laura) Lang, Mason City; Mrs. Frank (Gertrude LaMarr, Manly; and Rose Hennigar, Vancouver WA. There is one step-sister, Betty Pint, Charles City; seven half brothers and two half sisters.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Friends may call at the Hage Funeral Home after 10 a.m. Thursday.
