John Stone, signer of the 1639 Plantation Covenant, New Haven Colony, was born about 1610, recorded from his descendant William Leete Stone II, author of the book, John Stone, One of the first settlers of Guilford, Conn. He was not the son of Rev .Samuel Stone 1602 Hertford, England-1663 Hartford, CT., & Hope Fletcher (first wife) for this Samuel Stone was a co-founder of Hartford Colony and comes from a different Stone Genealogy, a sibling of Rev. Gregory Stone Genealogy. This memorial needs a correction for it is causing confusion in the different Stone Genealogies. This John Stone did marry Widow Mary Hughes and is recorded with his sibling William Stone 1608-1683, also a signer of the 1639 Plantation Covenant.
