Alberta M. Porter - Feb. 13, 1914 – May 18, 2001
Salem – Alberta Porter, 87, died Friday. Alberta is survived by son, Donald A. Porter and daughter, Janette Karn, both of Salem. Alberta had 6 granddaughters, 3 great-grandsons and 8 great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Abel P. Porter; brothers, Clarence, Richard, Lloyd and Ira McKinley; sisters, Hazel King, Ethel Leslie, Odetha Morris and Lavina Bonnen.
Alberta was a cook at the School for the Blind and at Fairview of Salem until retirement. She enjoyed her family, gardening, canning, quilting, embroidery, and most of all, cooking for her family. She will be greatly missed by all.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, at Belcrest Memorial Park, 1295 Browning Ave. S in Salem. Arrangements are by Howell-Edwards-Doerksen with Rigdon-Ransom Funeral Directors.
