Adelaide lead a life that was full of tragedy and adventure. Her father took his family to the Eli Thayer colony of Ceredo, VA in 1857. There she married David W Browne in 1860. Civil War broke out and her family was taking up the war effort for the Union and her father was captured and killed by Rebels. She and David moved back the Vermont and he died there in 1873. Between this date and 1878 she ends up in Massachusetts where she marries George Hamlin.
