Roger Paul Sweet, age 56, of Mayville, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2011. A Service of Remembrance will be held 11 A.M. Friday, July 1, 2011 at the Mayville United Methodist Church with Pastor Terry Blackmer officiating. The family will receive visitors 1 – 8 P.M. Thursday, June 30, 2011 at the Avram Funeral Home in Mayville and 10 A.M. until time of the service at the church Friday. Internment will take place at Fremont Township Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Family Discretionary Fund. Roger was born October 4, 1954 in Caro, MI to Gale E. and Janet (King) Sweet, Jr. He graduated from Mayville High School class of 1972 and married Julie Morris November 12, 1977 at Mills Memorial Baptist Church in Mayville. Roger was a supervisor for Mayville Department of Public Works. He was the Mayville Fire Department Chief, a member of Mayville Eagles, and Sons of the American Legion. Roger loved spoiling his grandchildren, and enjoyed flying remote control airplanes and helicopters, golfing and hunting. He is survived by his wife Julie, his children; Shaune Sweet (Jay Friday) of Mayville, Roy Sweet of Caro, Amanda Waller (Russ Gamblin) of Mayville, nieces; Amy (John) Gregor of Caro, Debbie (Ward) Donovan of Caro, Laura (Mike) Lenygel of Kingsley, nephew; Eric Ewald of Millington, grandchildren; Kali, Logan, Rachael, Xander, and Paisley. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, brother; Kevin Sweet, sister; Connie Ewald, brother-in-law Darrel Ewald, and son-in-law Timothy Waller.
