Eva Knowlton Asenath Knowlton, daughter of Jason Franklin Knowlton & Laura Lucinda Shurtleff, was born January 31, 1871 in Wabasha, Minnesota. She died January 26, 1946, at Rice Lake, Wisconsin, and was buried in Wayside Cemetery, Barron, Wisconsin.

On July 27, 1898 Eva was married to Simeon Brown at the home of her mother in Maple Grove Township, Barron County, Wisconsin. Their children were:

Laura Mable, b. 19 Dec 1901
Myron Lee, b. 9 Mar 1903
Abigail Alice, b. 24 Sep 1905

MARRIED

On Wednesday July 27th, 1898, at the home of the bride's mother, in the town of Maple Grove, Miss Eva Knowlton and Mr. Simeon Brown, of the town of Clinton, were united in bonds of holy wedlock, Rev. E. C. Dixon officiating. A large number of friends and relatives were present, and after the ceremony the company sat down to a wedding feast.

Both the contracting parties are well and favorably known in this city and are among the most popular young people in the community in which they live. The groom is a prosperous farmer of Clinton and the bride is one of the successful teachers of the county. The Shield joins their host of friends in wishing them a long and happy married life. OBITUARY

MRS. SIMEON BROWN

Eva Aseneh Knowlton was born Jan. 31, 1871, in Wabasha, Minn., the third youngest in a family of 10 children born to Jason and Laura Knowlton. When she was a small girl the family moved to Ellsworth, where her father was a miller. His mill was destroyed by a flood and the family moved to a farm in Maple Grove township, where she grew to young womanhood. She taught school in Barron county for about 10 years.

On July 27, 1898, she was married to Simeon Brown, and they were the parents of five children. They lived on the farm since their marriage with the exception of one year spent on his father's farm. Mr. Brown died in 1921. For 55 years she was super-intendent and teacher in the East Arland Union Sunday school and had been active in the Bethesda Ladies Aid and other Christian organizations.

Mrs. Brown died Jan. 26 at Lakeside hospital, Rice Lake. Surviving are five children, Margaret and Laura at home, Myron of Cumberland, Abbie (Mrs. Clayton Garner) of Chetek, and Esther (Mrs. George Larson) of Strum; a brother, Edd Knowlton of Barron and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Jan 30 at the Barron Methodist church, Rev. Archie Henry officiating, and Rev. B. B. Ostrem, retired pastor of the Barron Norwegian Lutheran church, and Rev. E. F. Anderson, pastor of the Poskin Methodist church, assisting. Jasperson funeral service was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Wallace Clifton, Harold Hansen, Ernest Hoff, LaRue Etlicher, and Harry Stair. Flower girls were Lorraine Malone, Barbara Etlicher, Margy Bagley and Grace Heath.

Among those attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. George Larson, La Vonne, Harlyn, Marjory, Keith, Garth and Gary, of Strum; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hall, Viroqua; Mrs. Bertha Parker, La Farge, and E. G. Appleman, Westby. [February 7, 1946, Barron County News Shield, Barron, Wisconsin.]
