Steven Wilmot died about three weeks after incurring injuries from a fall while investigating an arson fire in Springfield, IL. Mr. Wilmot was a captain in the Springfield Fire Department, where he had worked for 15 years. He was an Illinois state certified fire investigator. He was a member of Christ the King Parish, Fire Fighters Local 37, Knights of Columbus 364, and the International Association of Arson Investigators. He was assistant den master for Cub Scout Pack 2 and a U.S. Army veteran and served as captain in the Illinois National Guard.
