Deseret News, The (Salt Lake City, UT) - January 27, 1999. Obituary: Alice Rowena Bangerter Lauritzen died peacefully Jan. 25, 1999 at the home of her son in West Valley City, Utah. She was born July 30, 1914 in Granger, Utah to Fredrick Lorenzo Bangerter and Mary Bathsheba Bawden. She attended Monroe Elementary, Granite High School and the University of Utah, from which she graduated in 1936. She taught high school for many years in Victor and Driggs, Idaho and also at Granite High School in Salt Lake City. She obtained her masters degree from the University of Utah in 1964. On June 10, 1940 she married Carlos Grant Lauritzen in the Salt Lake Temple. He died June 16, 1984. Throughout her life Rowena was active in the LDS Church. She taught in several organizations and enjoyed temple work. She was a Relief Society President and YWMIA President.

She is survived by five children: Carlos Brent Lauritzen of West Valley; Mary Alice Heath of Orem; Norman Wayne Lauritzen of Houston, Texas; Ray Arland Lauritzen of Salt Lake City; and Keith Ross Lauritzen of Sandy; brothers and sister Alden Bangerter, John Bangerter, Nola Hansen and Vern Bangerter. She also has 21 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her grandson Scott Lauritzen. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, January 28, 1999 at the Wilford 2nd Ward, 3199 South Highland Drive. Friends may call at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive on Wednesday evening from 7-9 p.m. and at the ward on Thursday from 10:45-11:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
