Sandra Busby Rocks, 68, of Hendersonville, died Saturday, June 4, 2011, at the Elizabeth House in Flat Rock. An only child, she was the daughter of the late Marshall & Hazel Busby of Irondale, AL.
She had been a resident of the Hendersonville area for over ten years, and formerly, Charlotte, for over thirteen years, where she was a Certified Social Worker, with a Master's Degree from the University of South Carolina; counseling married couples and adolescents. Before that, she lived in Chattanooga, TN, for over fifteen years but her roots take her back to Birmingham, AL.
She loved to ice skate, play the piano and organ, was an avid bridge player, and loved to cook, decorate and travel. Her favorite passion was spending time gardening. She was a member and past president of The Saluda Garden Club. She always had a love of Saluda, Hilton Head, and the mountains. Before her death, she had been writing a book on parenting.
Wife more than 49 years of John Michael Rocks. She is also survived by two children, Marshall Rocks, Boynton Beach, FL & Holly Drake (Ernie), Hendersonville; along with a very large extended family and many, many friends across the southeast.
Interment followed funeral services conducted Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at the Thos. Shepherd Church Street Chapel with Dr. John Mason officiating.
