U.S. Congressman. He graduated from Bowdoin College, in 1836, studied law, was admitted to the bar and commenced the practice of law in Newcastle, Maine. He was a member of the Maine State House of Representatives, (1843, 51-53). In 1853, he was elected as a Whig to the Thirty-third Congress, serving until 1855. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he was a member of the Maine State Senate in 1856 and practiced law until his death at age 62.
