Mercedes Alexander, 73, passed away Friday, Jan. 1, 2010. She was born and raised in New Orleans, La. until she moved to Brielle in the 1960's. She has lived in Manasquan for the past 15 years. Mercedes was a home health aide for over 20 years, and known for her kind and loving heart.
She is predeceased by her husband. Grover Alexander. She is survived by a son, Ernest Dugar; a daughter, Recia Dugar; and a grandson, Nathiel Dugar, whom she raised.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6 at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Road, Arneytown. A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 11 at Shiloh Baptist Church, Manasquan.
