He was a parishioner of Most Holy Name Church, Garfield, and a former coach with the Garfield Babe Ruth Little League. He was a 30 year member of the Garfield Volunteer Fire Department, Company 3. He was Department Fire Chief in 1992, Assistant Fire Chief from 1988-1991, and he served in the capacity of Assistant Engineer, Chief Engineer, Lieutenant, Captain, and the president from 1993-2009. John was a life member of the South Bergen Fire Chiefs Association, NJ Firemen's Relief Association, NJ State Fire Chiefs Association, and the NJ Exempt Firemen's Association. He was predeceased by his parents, Emma and John A Aadmetz, Sr. Surviving are his wife of 40 years Mary T (nee Cislak); son John A, III and his wife, Jessica, a daughter, Ursula Keating and her husband, John "Jr."; four grandchildren, Jordyn, Joshua, Jadyn, and Colin; brother, Raymond and his wife, Teresa; two sisters Sister Mary Alicia Adametz and Carol Homyack and her husband, Barry; and niece, Emily Adametz.
