THELMA T. MILLS
Mrs. Thelma Tinker Mills, 63, of 612 Gage St., Bennington, retired longtime employee of the Union Carbide Corp., died Sunday afternoon at Putnam Memorial Hospita after a short illness.
The funeral will be held at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Wednesday at 2 pm with the Rev. Sidney Lambert, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating.
Burial will follow in the family plot, Park Lawn Cemetery, Bennington, with the Rev. Mr. Lambert offering committal prayers.
Daughter of John and Mary (Grant) Tinker, she was born March 14, 1912 in St. Johnsbury, received her education in the schools of that town, and was married to Thomas W. Mills on June 13, 1934 in Cambridge, N.Y.
Mrs. Mills was employed at the Union Carbide Corp. for more than 25 years, retiring in 1972.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and belonged to the Circle Two of that church.
Besides her widower, she leaves six sisters, Clara Rice and Beverly Tomasi, both of Windsor, Dorothy Cheney of West Hartford, Conn., Lucille Dodge of Concord, N.H., Barbara Brewer of Hanover, N.H., and Esther Douglass of Lee, Mass.; two brothers, T. Gerald of San Diego, Calif., and John of Windsor, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The family has suggested memorial contributions to the Bennington Rescue Squad or a favorite charity.
