ART W. LYNES DIED TUESDAY MORNING

Native of Callaway County and Former City Marshall Suffered Paralysis.


Arthur Woodson Lynes, 57 years old, a native of Callaway County and for four years City Marshall of Fulton, died February 4, 1930 at his home, 906 Nichols Street, at 6:00 o'clock Tuesday. He had been suffering for several months of paralysis. He had been in failing health for several years and since Saturday had been very low.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Christian Church, by the Reverend W. Garnet Alcorn, pastor and burial will be in Hillcrest cemetary in Fulton.

Mr. Lynes was born October 30, 1873, in New Bloomfield, to Woodson and Martha (Alexander) Lynes and had spent practically all his life in Callaway County, living most of the time in Fulton. He served a number of years in the police department of Fulton and for four years was City Marshall, fulfilling faithfully his duties as a public official. He was a charter member of the Fulton Fire Department, serving in the days when volunteer members themselves pulled hose carts to the scene of the blaze. He was also a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge of Fulton and a member of the First Christian Church.

Mr. Lynes was married on July 27, 1904 to Miss Pearl Tharp, who with three children, survives. The children are; Herbert A. Lynes of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Arthur . Lynes of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and Robert T. Lynes, a student of the Fulton High School. He also leaves two two sisters and one brother, Miss Evelyn Lynes, a teacher at the Missouri School for the Deaf in Fulton, Mrs. Harve Allen of Pueblo, Colorado and Frank E. Lynes of Rocky Mount, Colorado.

He was a laborer.
