Anthony Wayne Brock, was born April 23, 1943 to the late Crit D. and Hettie (Ellis) Brock in Portageville, Missouri. Wayne, as he was known to his family and friends, grew up in Bockerton, MO and graduated from high school in Portageville, MO.


On July 11, 1964, Wayne married his high school sweetheart, Martha Jo Adams in Wardell, MO. Wayne and Martha shared over 43 years of marriage together and many wonderful memories.


Wayne enlisted in the United States Army in 1962 and served his country faithfully until his retirement in 1982. He had attained the rank of Sergeant First Class. For his faithful service, Wayne earned several awards and commendations, some of which include the National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (2), Good Conduct Medal (5th Award), Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 1 Silver Service Star, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Driver Mechanic Badge, Expert Qualification Badge M16, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation with Palm. Wayne and Martha moved to Fort Leonard Wood in 1964 and spent most of his military time here. While Wayne went on different tours (he did two tours in Vietnam), Martha would stay in the Fort Leonard Wood area except she did go with Wayne to Germany for one year.


After retiring from the military, Wayne ran the Westside 66 Service Station for 10 years and then No Preference Towing. Wayne earned three Associates Degree from Central Texas College in Automotive Service Repair, Small Gas Engine Repair and Welding Technology. In his spare time, Wayne enjoyed having coffee with his friends at Road Rangers Truck Stop and Sadots.


Wayne passed away at 4:45 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2007 at Life Care Center of Waynesville at the age of 64 years, 8 months and 5 days.


Wayne leaves to cherish his memory his wife: Martha; his daughter: Barbara Wall; son-in-law: Brian Campbell and grandson: David Wall all of Waynesville; five sisters: Annabelle McGraw of Cape Girardeau, MO, Louise Kellams of Portageville, MO, Bessie Craft of Austin, TX, Thelma Kosack of Springfield, MO and Algarin Blythe; one brother: Cletus Brock of Advance, MO; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends.


In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Odell and Johnnie Brock.


Graveside services with military honors were held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 2, 2008 in the Sunset Memorial Estates Cemetery with Rev. Danny Graves officiating. The song "Go Rest High On That Mountain" was played. Serving as escorts and providing the military honors were the United States Army of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Services were under the direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel.


Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Wayne Brock to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude's Children's Hospital and may be left at Waynesville Memorial Chapel.
