CLEO CARPENTER
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Feb. 15 at Camp Creek Church in Springfield for Cleo Robert Carpenter of Eugene. He died Feb. 3 of prostate cancer at age 84.

He was born Oct. 2, 1924, in Hoquiam, Wash., to Willis and Rose Avery Carpenter.

He married Patricia Wooden on March 4, 1954 in Long Beach, Wash.

Carpenter graduated from Wheeler High School and served in the Navy.

He was a log trucking contractor with Carpenter Trucking Inc. for Giustina Brothers for more than 50 years.

He also worked in sprint car racing.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Cathy Patton of Myrtle Creek and Rosemarie Camp of Veneta; two sons, R. Scott and Chuck, both of Springfield; two sisters, Ticky Dick of Wheeler and Lillan Pester of Springfield, Mo.; a brother, Ken of Seaside; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A daughter, Janice Lucille, died previously.
