William Burtis Letson, age 74, of Florence, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007, at his residence. Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 19, 2007, from 6:30-9 p.m. at Spry Serenity Chapel, Florence. His funeral service will be Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Billy J. Reding and the Rev. Tiffany McClung officiating. Interment will follow in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens. Born in Lawrence County, Ala., a resident of Lauderdale County the past 46 years, Mr. Letson was a graduate of Hazelwood High School and later attended the University of Alabama and Florence State Teachers College. He was an employee of Reynolds before retiring with 32 years of service. A member of the Baptist church, the T and T Hunting Club, he was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Ruby Barringer Letson; daughters, Dianne Letson, Charlotte Rodgers and husband, Mark; granddaughters, Jessica and Allison Rodgers, all of Florence; brothers, Ralph Letson and wife, Dale, of Tuscumbia, Anthony Letson and wife, Sue, of Muscle Shoals; sister, Juanita Turner, of Duncanville, Ala.; brother-in-law, Gerald Barringer, of Rogersville; several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Don Montgomery, Sparkie Taylor, Joe Fort, Gerald Taylor, Tyrus Taylor, Joel Scott, Richard Morgan and Tim Rodgers. Spry Serenity Chapel, Florence, directing.
