Peter was captured by Indians when a baby and raised by them. He became an Indian chief and met his mother when he returned to claim his father's inheritance, but then returned to his Indian people.
Jurian died in 1761 and his wife Catherine died in Knowlton, New Jersey in 1787. Jurian is buried in an unmarked grave in the Minisink Church, which was established by the Kingston Reformed Dutch Church in 1741. It is now part of the Delaware River Water National Park and only a few grave stones remain.
