On 13 Mar 1828, Fleming Helm married Elizabeth (Betsy) Prillaman, a young woman of 20. He supported her and their family, eventually increased by 7 children, as a farmer raising hemp and flax among other things. As did many folks, he supplemented farming by operating two legal distillerys and a blacksmith shop. He also built wagons. Fleming Helm was listed on the 1850 census of Franklin County, age 45, with property valued at $2050 He died at age 52 of heart disease.
