Loving father of Michael (Betty), James, Cheryl (Ed) Lagesse, Kevin (Sheila), Kris (Terry) Hemp. Proud grandfather of Laurie Johnson, Amy Foley, Gregory, Katie Denny, Maggie, Dan, Bobby, Nickolas, Nolan, Nathan, Neil, the late Grant, Alex and Bryan Yohnka. Dear great-grandfather of 17. Caring brother of Jeannie McCormick, Ida Mae Bassett.

Memorial visitation will be held Tuesday June 28, 2011 from 4:00 PM until time of service 6:30 PM. at the Vandenberg Funeral Home 19604 S. Wolf Road Mokena, IL. 60448.

A private family interment will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.

George was a WWII Navy veteran. George also worked for Commonwealth Edison for 34 years.

George A. "Barney" Bernard, age 85, of Cherokee Village, Arkansas died Saturday, June 18, 2011, at Eaglecrest Nursing and Rehab in Ash Flat, Arkansas.

He was born July 15, 1925 at Moline, Illinois to George Whitmore and Marie Lewis. He was an electrician and a member of the Mason's Society.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include three sons, Michael Bernard of New Lenox, Illinois, James Bernard of Watseka, Illinois, and Kevin Bernard of Clifton, Illinois; two daughters Kris Hemp of Cherokee Village, Arkansas and Cheryl Lagesse of Watseka, Illinois; fourteen Grandchildren; and seventeen Great-Grandchildren.

All arrangements were by Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland, Arkansas.
