Dianne Schmidt, 66
Dianne Elaine (Froemming) Schmidt was born to Walter and Ella Froemming on January 11, 1945 in Alexandria. She was baptized and confirmed at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Miltona. Dianne attended elementary school at District 55 in Miltona and graduated from Alexandria High School in 1963.
On May 4, 1968, she married Stanley Schmidt at Mt. Calvary. They lived in rural Granite Falls for a few years before making their home north of Echo.
She was a farm wife and stay-at-home mother, as well as an instructor for the Schmidt Country Riders for over 25 years. Dianne had also worked for the Tri-County News, the Echo Post Office and as a horse trainer. She was active in church as a Sunday school teacher, Sunday school superintendent and served on various committees and boards. She was a member of the Triple T Saddle Club, Schmidt Country Riders, and served as a coordinator for the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital's annual fundraiser. Dianne also enjoyed painting, trail riding, camping and caring for her animals.
Dianne Schmidt passed away on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at the Granite Falls Municipal Hospital at the age of 66 years and 28 days.
She is survived by her mother, Ella Froemming; husband, Stan; sons, David Sr. (Maradee) Ose of Echo, Jason (Nancy) Schmidt of Echo, Delane (Tanya) Schmidt of Embarrass and Deven (Jill) Schmidt of Maynard; 15 grandchildren, Kimberly, David Jr. and Darrin Ose of Echo, Morgan, Jacob, Levi and Jackson Schmidt of Echo, Chayse and Brooklynn Schmidt of Embarrass, Cheyanne, Brandon, Madison and Bryce Schmidt, Dallas and Hunter Kerkela of Maynard. Dianne is also survived by her sisters, Jurlienne (Laurel) Riedel of Parkers Prairie and Marcia (Reinhardt) Luedeke of Miltona.
She was preceded in death by her father, Walter H. Froemming; grandson, Logan Jason Schmidt; sister, Beverly Jean Froemming; and niece, Sherry Lee Reidel.
Blessed by the memory of Dianne.
The family prefers memorials be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Granite Falls Hospice.
