Sherry "Suki" Wells

Des Moines

Sherry In Suk "Suki" Wells went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 27, 2011.

Suki was born on May 31, 1930 in the Republic of Korea to Dong Kyu and Tae Soon Lee Chung. She immigrated to the United States of America in the spring of 1952 with her toddler son and husband, Royal Wells, a WWII Army Ranger and Korean War Veteran. They disembarked from the USS Randall at San Francisco and eventually set off for Iowa where they wanted to make a home and raise their family.

Sherry loved the United States of America and took great pride in becoming a Naturalized Citizen of the USA in the winter of 1962.

Grandma Suki, as she was affectionately called, loved her grand and great grandkids more than anything else in the world.

Sherry spent her life literally serving others, as a waitress at Boots Drive Inn, Johnny and Kays Hyatt House, and Dragon House Restaurants.

Suki is survived by her sons, George H. and Jerry (Kim) Wells; daughter, Susan K. McFadden; eight grandchildren, Patrick (Ava) Wells, Sarah (Mike) Brown, Alex Wells, Jered R.(Aimee) Wells, Jordan Lee Wells, Chantelle McFadden (Rich Armintrout), Courtney (Rocky) Supino, and Cristin McFadden; twelve great-grandchildren; two brothers; two sisters; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, a sister, and four brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, July 1, 2011 at Iles Funeral Homes - Grandview Park Chapel. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial donations can be directed to Hospice of Central Iowa.
