Emanuel Davis Dies In D.M.C. Hospital
Emanuel E. Davis, 82, of 1425 North Woodford street, died at 4 p. m. yesterday in the Decatur and Macon County hospital where he had been a patient for the past 10 days.
He was born in Spencer county, Indiana, near Boonville, and spent his early life in Indiana and Iowa. A retired farmer, he had been a resident of Decatur and Macon county for the past 23 years. He was married in Rockport, Ind., to Mary Conley, who preceded him in death. He later married Rebecca Agnew. She died in 1920. Mr. Davis was a member of the Modern Woodmen of Decatur.
He leaves five sons, Arch H. of Decatur, Herschel, Des Moines, Iowa, Roscoe of Perry, Iowa, Truman, Long Beach, Calif., and James of Rockford; a brother, Lawrence, Terre Haute, Ind.; a sister, Mrs. Mary Weatherholt, Boonville, Ind.; two daughters, Mrs. Cora Crow, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Mrs. Martha Stoddard, Detroit, Mich.; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
The body is at Moran & Sons' funeral home where friends may call after 7:30 p. m. today. Services will be held in Moran's chapel at 1:30 p. m. Thursday, with burial in Memorial Park cemetery.
