ELDRIDGE, Iowa -- Russell A. Claussen, 81, Eldridge, died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002, at his home.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The Rev. Ruth Ann Scott will officiate. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt.

Pallbearers will be Richard Hofer, Chuck Green, Jeff Quinn, Francis Claeys, Rod Current and Al Starkweather.

Russell Albert Claussen was born March 17, 1921, in Pleasant Valley, Iowa, to William and Helfred (Larson) Claussen. He served his country proudly during World War II. Russ married the former Marvelle Lessin on Feb. 8, 1950. He farmed for many years near

Eldridge, and also had driven a school bus for 17 years and had been employed by the former Geifman Food Stores.

Russ enjoyed antique cars, and always had a good joke to tell. He was a member of Eldridge American Legion Post.

Surviving are a son, Kyle, Monticello, Iowa; a daughter, Jani Telleen, and her husband, Bruce, Monticello; four grandchildren, J.D. Telleen, Amber (Wayne) Yousse, Jeff Telleen and Klark Telleen; a great-granddaughter, Katelyn Yousse; and special friends, Kathi LaMaack, Saunny Current and Cindy DeVoss.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marvelle, on Nov. 12, 1966; a daughter, Marcia, on June 15, 1983; a sister, Mildred Arey; and three brothers, Robert, Alvin and Walter.
