CLYDE ~ Joy Lee Ferguson Haynes, 73, of 81 Wiley Haynes Dr., died Tuesday, May 9, 2006, at St. Joseph Hospital due to complications from a brain aneurysm.

She was a native of Alexandria, Va., but had resided in Haywood County since 1968 after coming from Asheville. She was a daughter of the late Gorman and Mary Ella Ferguson. Mrs. Haynes was preceded in death by; two brothers, Alton and Gorman Ferguson; and a sister, Jean Chambers.

Her interests included crafts, collecting, dollhouses and camping at the KOA Campground in Cherokee.

She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Wiley "Skip" Haynes; one daughter, Dianne Witter of Houston, Texas; one son, Clarke H. Witter and his wife, Robin of Winder, Ga.; one step-daughter, Kathi Donaldson and her husband, Dwight, of Flat Rock; a niece, Tracy Jebb of Hendersonville and two grandsons, Taylor Hutsler and Wesley Allen Witter.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Canton chapel of Wells Funeral Home & Cremation Services with the Rev. James Parham and the Rev. W.O. "Bill" Henson officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:45 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence.
